Research Abstract |
GPS measurements have been carried out at Bojonglopang, Sagaranten, Pelabuhanratu, Ciawi, Kiaradua (Lipi) , Cisaat and Lembang in west Jawa in August and September, and at Tugu, Leles, Ciawi, Ciatr, Cibodas and Nagreg in October and November with reference to GPS stations at the National Coordination for Surveys and Mapping (BAKOSURTANAL) and Institute Teknologi Bandung (ITB) . The results show that the points north of Cimanidri fault are displaced to east with a rate of about 20mm/y and the points south of the fault move to north with a rate of 10mm-20mm/y. This pattern agress well with an expected crustal deformation caused by the subduction of Indo-Australia plate under the Eurasian palte. In order to investigate the propagation error of microwave in the tropical region we have carried out a continuous observation of pressure, temperature and relative humidity at ITB during the GPS campaign in October and November. These data have been compared with those read with an interval of about one hour at GPS points. Precise gravity measurements have also been carried out with a La Coste & Romberg G-876 gravimeter at one GPS point and six auxiliary points as well as Japan-Indonesia international and Indonesian domestic gravity connections. Narita GSI point was connected with Jakarta T1-A and Jakarta T2-E.The gravity values in Indonesia were determined with reference to the gravity value at the Bandung Geological Museum. The mean square of differences between the gravity values obtained by measurements in 1993 and 1994 is 0.011mgal, and this shows the accuracy of our gravity measurement in our project.
