Research Abstract	総括班研究の主な目的は、本重点領域研究の評価、調整、普及にある。平成5年度は初年度に当たるため、実験及び理論研究者間、多岐にわたる研究分野間の密接な交流を図ることを重視して、下記のような活動を行なった。 (1)総括班会議平成5年7月と12月に開催し、研究状況と来年度の目標について検討した。 (2)研究会ア)「短寿命核ビームの科学'93」を平成5年12月16-18日の三日間開催した。出席者は約180名である。主なトピックス:(i)^<11>Liの謎、(ii)中性子過剰核、(iii)特別講演、(iv)クーロン分解反応と^<12>C(α,γ)^<16>O反応、(v)中性子星と状態方程式、(vi)新星、超新星と元素合成、(vii)短寿命核ビーム生成及び関連技術、(viii)短寿命核ビームを用いた物質科学、(ix)物質科学の新プローブ、(x)核分光、(xi)不安定核の核反応。研究会報告を発行する予定である。イ)天体核物理、宇宙物理のワークショップを平成5年9月に開催した。出席者は外国人を含めて約50名であった。プロシーディングスを発行予定である。 (3)公開シンポジウム「原子核が開く極限の世界'94」と題するシンポジウムを平成6年2月に開催した。出席者は一般市民、高校生、大学生らで約160名であった。極めて好評で、来年度における継続を望まれている。主な講演題目を以下に記す:原子核が解き明かす宇宙の謎、原子核の不思議な振る舞い、超重元素は存在するか-宇宙と実験室における探索-、原子核センサーでみるミクロの世界。 (4)ニュースレターの発行関連の深い分野の研究者に本重点領域研究の研究課題や進展状況等の周知をはかるため発行した。
