Research Abstract	本研究の主な目的は、重点領域研究「短寿命核ビームの科学」の評価、調整、普及にある。各研究班の研究状況を調査・評価し、研究会等を開催してその円滑な進展を促進することを重視して、下記のような活動を行なった。また、本年度は最終年度に当たるため、来年度の成果の取りまとめの仕方を決定した。 (1)総括班会議平成8年10月と平成9年1月に開催し、研究状況の評価・調整をはかるとともに、これまでの研究成果をまとめ、今後の問題等の整理を行った。 (2)研究会ア)「短寿命核ビームの科学'96」を平成9年1月10-13日の4日間、東大原子核研究所において、以下の主題で開催した:(i)総括班活動報告-研究状況・成果報告と総括-、(ii)極端状況下の原子核の構造と相互作用、(iii)元素の起源と宇宙の進化、(iv)短寿命核ビーム関連技術、(v)短寿命核ビームによる物質科学の研究。出席者は約200名であった。研究会報告発行の準備中である。イ)天体核物理学及び原子核物理学(中性子過剰核等の構造)に関するワークショップを延べ5回開催した。出席者は講師、学生等を含め延べ約60名であった。 (3)公開シンポジウム第4回シンポジウム「原子核が開く極限の世界'96」を、東京(野口英世記念会館)で平成9年2月に開催した。出席者は専門家、一般市民、高校生、大学生らで約200名であった。 (4)ニュースレターの発行本重点領域研究の研究課題や進展状況等の周知をはかるため、2度にわたり発行した。 (5)延べ5名を欧米諸国に派遣し、世界における「短寿命核ビームの科学」の研究状況と将来の動向を調査した。
