Research Abstract |
Nonaqueous solvents are often used as media for chemical reactions and for separation and concentration processes. In this research, fifteen investigators co-operated to develop methods for evaluation of solvent effects in the chemical processes in solutions and between different phases. (1)For chemical processes in solutions, the solvent evaluation methods were studied by IWAMOTO,UMEMOTO,OKAZAKI,SAKAMOTO and IZUTSU by electroanalytical methods(voltammetry, potentiometry and conductometry)and spectrophotometry, and by FUNAHASI and MUNAKATA by NMR and EXAFS. (2)For chemical processes between different liquid phases, the solvent evaluation methods were studied by AKAIWA,SENDA,TAKEDA,MASUDA,MATSHI and WATARAI by such methods as solvent extraction and voltammetry at the interfaces between immiscible solvents. Hori studied the solvents effects in the processes at solid-liquid interfaces using a co-precipitation method. WATANABE studied the gas-liquid process by photoelectron emmision spectroscopy. (3)Various methods were developed for the evaluation of solvents effects in various chemical processes. Based on the research results, a guide book for solvent evaluation is now in preparation.
