Research Abstract	線状高分子の濃厚溶液や固体の動的・静的性質に関して、分子レベルより理解することに努めた。濃厚系中での屈曲性高分子のダイナミックスを誘電分散実験により調べ、レプテーションモデルを用いた理論の問題点とその改良への指針を提供した。また、高分子固体の大変形に対する力学応答及びガラス転移点近傍における高分子の運動性という問題を、(1)2様分布を持った高分子試料を用いる、(2)微分動的弾性率測定を行う、(3)1軸・2軸伸長変形様式について調べる、(4)動的粘弾性と複屈折の同時測定を行う、という方法を用いて詳しく研究した。ガラス転移点近傍における高分子運動は2種の成分に分けられ、高分子の化学構造との相関を調べた。静的性質については、まず半屈曲性高分子系の熱力学的性質と局所構造は屈曲性高分子系とは全く異なった理論体系によって説明されることが分かった。また屈曲性高分子の分子内排除体積相互作用が濃厚系では遮蔽されるという問題を計算機シミュレーションにより研究し、高分子ブレンド系については、高分子間の異方的相互作用を赤外吸収の二色性測定により調べて、それが相溶性に重要な影響を与えることを見いだした。以上述べた線状高分子の均一系に対する研究成果を基礎として、最近注目されている高分子及び高分子系、具体的には、分岐高分子[星型、樹状、ポリ(マクロモノマー)]、化学及び物理架橋した高分子ゲル、マクロ及びミクロ相分離した高分子系、表面・界面における高分子等の静的・動的性質について、新しい実験手法や理論、またシミュレーションを用いて詳細に調べた。(紙面の都合上、それらの成果の詳細については省略する。)これらの成果は高分子を用いた材料の設計に対する指針を与えることが期待される。
