Research Abstract |
To develop our previous research including international collaboration and promote integrate researches, the following studies were conducted. 1.Various new neurophysiological methods and neurobehavioral test battery, which had been proved to be useful in our previous studies, were applied to examine the effects of wide variety of occupational end environmental factors, to clarify subclinical neurological, psychological and behavioral effects and establish their dose-effects relationship. 2.Immunological methods, which had been developed in our laboratory on human subjects, were applied to various neurotoxic disorders, occupational cancers, work-related diseases, neurological and psychiatric diseases, to clarify immunological and molecular changes underlying them and verify these methods. 3.The above data were compared with those obtained in USA,Denmark, China, etc, where we had conducted international collaborative works. 4.Cohort study was carried out on a group of children in Faroe islands, Denmark, whose histry of exposure to methyl mercury had been well known, to examine if they had subclinical neurobehavioral or neurophysiological changes. 5.Epidemiological studies using the above methods were performed in China and Indonesia, focusing environmental pollution, occupational diseases and traffic accidents. 6.Based on these data, preventive strategics for neurological, psychological and behavioral disorders due to occupational and environmental factors were discussed.
