Research Abstract |
1. In June 1993, we have organized an association, Association for Pali Text Inputting (=APTI,with 36 members), to continue the preceding research project : Electronic processing of the classical Indian text. - Creation of the metrical analysis program and pali database - (Grant-in-Aid for Co-operative Research (A) ; Project number 03301004 in 1991 - 1992). 2. Preparation of database : a. Following electronic texts of the Pali Tripitaka have been created, using the optical character recognition (=OCR) System, in 1993 - 1994 : Khuddakapatha, Mahaniddesa, patisambhidamagga, Buddhavamsa, Milindapanha, Vibhanga, Paramatthajotika II,Atthasalini. b. Following texts are now being revised by the members of APTI : Cullaniddesa, Petakopadesa, Dhammasangani. c. Following texts have been revised by the members of APTI : Udana, Thera-theri-gatha. d. with the texts revised in 1991 - 1994, the total number of the revised filesnow amount to 27, containing the textual data of 10.7 mega bites. 3. Reduction of manuals. Following 4 manuals for beginners have been reducted by Nakatani and Ejima : a. Introduction to APTI,b. How to use Recognita Plus, c. Processing of OCR data, d. Utilization of computor in indological Studies. 4. System of processing of Sanskrit OCR data. The construction of the system is nearly completed. We have created the OCR data of the Abhisamayalankaraloka-prajnaparamitavyakhya. 5. We have created the following systems. a. Index Making System, b. Metrical Analysis System, c. Phonetic Analysis Program.
