Research Abstract

During the project year, various types of surveys and analysis were conducted on the planning, design and management of renovations and redevelopment of campus facilities such as the open space environment redevelopment and the extension of university central library.
1. Analysis on the Effectiveness of Open Space
Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) was carried out on the redevelopment of Green Belt, which is the major open space of Nagoya University Higashiyama Campus, to clarify the issues on redevelopment program.
2. Analysis on Wayfinding and Legibility within University Central Library
POE on the spatial legibility was carried out in relation to book finding behaviors of library users. A simulation system on movements and behaviors of library users was developed to be used to point out issues on extension program and the required signage planning built environment.
3. Development of CAFM System
A Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) System has been developed to enable a rigorous way for data collection needed in the facility redevelopment.
4. Analysis on Campus Vibration Environment
Various sources of vibration are found on a university campus, ranging from construction works, vehicular movements, mechanical installations, to earthquakes. And the transmission route of the vibration may vary as footing ground, foundation, to building structure. An analysis support system has been developed to cope with above intricate vibration environment.
