Research Abstract |
The two main purposes of this study are as follow : 1) To elucidate the characteristics of the timber producers and traders of Yoshino district, Nara Prefecture. 2) To clarify the regional economic system of Yoshino Forestry. The next approach has been applied to achieve the object above mentioned. 1) For purpose 1), we studied the archives (komonjo) kept at the Forestry Museum of Yoshino Prefectural High School, and the private collections of house records of the Ohtani (Haibara town, Uda), the Maru (Kawakami village), and the Masu (Kawakami village). 2) For purpose 2), we studied the house records of the Ushioda who is a medium-size forest-land owner (Go-se city) and the Adachi (Tenri city). Additionaly, we have started to study on the Kitamura's records who is the largest forest-land owner in the Yoshino Forestry district. The results will be compiled after holding a workshop to discuss each members opinion.
