Research Abstract

We analyzed earthquake damage simulation using minute residential area model developed in 1993 and earthquake ground. As items of simulation we selected wooden and non-wooden buildings, furnitures and fire outbreak. We showed these items graphically on computer together with characteristics of residents and land use data. Basically we used existing earthquake damage estimation method, but for microscopic analysis we used new method.
We surveyed about the disaster preparedness on the residents living in 3 focused areas then consulted the differences of residential awareness according to region, building type, age and family organization. The residential awareness from the survey were compared with damage estimation evaluated by the simulation method.
Based on these results, we cleared the points at issue in applying the proposed methods to other regions. We also examined the method to arrange the datas in constructing residential area model and tried to generalize the proposed method. As summary of 2 years study we widely published the damage estimation method we proposed and its results in the form of report and thesis.
