| Research Abstract |
Epstein-Barrウイルス(EBV)は,がん原性を内蔵しつつヒトに広範に不顕性感染しているヘルペスウイルス科の一種である。EBVは伝染性単核症,日和見B細胞リンパ腫,バーキットリンパ腫,T細胞リンパ腫等,良性および悪性ヒト疾患の病因と密接に関連しているが,ヒト体内における本来の感染部位,分布組織についてはほとんど不明の現状にある。本研究は,EBVの多様な病原性を理解するために必須の,ヒト体内における潜在部位およびその感染動態について詳細な検討を行うことを目的とし,以下の成績を得た。
多数の病理解剖例について,全身の種々の組織をpolymerase chain reaction(PCR)とSouthern blot hybridizationにより,EBV特異的ゲノムDNA塩基配列を検索した。その結果,すべての症例の脾臓中に著しいEBV DNAを検出,次いで口腔粘膜とリンパ節に高頻度にEBV DNAを認め,胃および食道に一部陽性であった。以上の成績は,EBVが造血器組織ことに脾とリンパ節をreservoirとして潜在していることを示唆し,他方口腔内に多量に排出されていることを示している。
