Research Abstract |
A model of sub-surface space which consists of a shaft, a roadway connected to bottom of the shaft and a surface building connected to upper part of the shaft was made and follwing experiments were executed. 1. Four different kind of surface buildings were made and the air flow rate and pressure loss through them were measured to know the resistance difference between them. 2.Four different kind of bottom shape of the shaft and a guide vain of air flow were made and the air flow rate and pressure loss were measured to know the resistance difference between them as well. The following results were found by the above experimets. 1. The resistance of the surface building varied from 1255 to 1915 (Ns2/m8). It was also found that the resistance could be as low as there were no surface building when it was designed appropriately. 2. The resistances of the bottom part of the shaft varied from 556 to 1114 (Ns2/m8). They were smaller when the shaft bottome was same level to the floor of the roadway or the shape of the bottom was made obliquely than that when there was no measures to reduce the resistance. Guide vain was also useful to reduce the resistance.
