Research Abstract |
Since honoric expression in Japnese are closely related to the human relationship underlying the Japanese society, these expressions reflect some interesting aspects to the education of Japanese. Examinations in honorifics as well as a questionnarie on the study of honorifics were given to students of Akashi College of Technology, and the results of this study have revealed the followings : 1) Some honorific expression types appear many times in sample Japanese sentences, and other types appear a few times. 2) Social environments (parents, teachers, frequency of usage, necessity to talk, etc.) play a significant role in the process of learning honorifics. 3) Students already have learnd some knowledge befofe these tests and can look up someone to talk, however, they cannot speak confidently and cannot handle honorific expressions at inexperienced scenes properly. Based on these results we took two notes to plan the lesson of Japanese honorific expressions. One is to make clear the human relationship shown in that Japanese sentence, and the other is to indicate honorific expressio type to use in that situation.
