| Research Abstract |
配列データから分子系統樹を推定するための最尤法を開発し、プログラム・パッケージMOLPHYとして一般に公開した。その中には、DNAやRNAの塩基配列データから分子系統樹を推定するためのプログラムnucMLと、蛋白質のアミノ酸配列データから推定するためのプログラムProtMLとが含まれる。いずれのプログラムにおいても、塩基置換あるいはアミノ酸置換に関する確率モデルを仮定しなければならないが、これらはなるべく実際の進化の過程で起こっている置換パターンを反映したものでなければならない。今年度は、実際のデータから最尤法によって置換確率行列を推定する方法を確立し、従来よりも現実的なモデルを構築した。これらのモデルをnucMLやProtMLに組み込み、より信頼できるプログラムを実現した。その他にも、補助的なプログラムを整備して、使いやすいプログラム・パッケージにした。現在、国内・国外あわせて200ケ所ほどの研究機関で使われている。
