| Research Abstract |
今年度の主な研究項目は、1.情報理論の代数的、解析的研究、2.情報理論の関数解析的、調和解析的研究、3.情報の符号化の最適化、情報の試料化の研究、4.情報の統計処理、情報幾何学であった。1.については小関は符号のヤコビ多項式の性質の解明に成功し、その応用として符号の被覆半径の決定問題に一つの組織的探求方法を得た。これらのことの概要は1993年11月に九州大学で開かれた代数的組み合わせ理論の国際会議で発表し、成果を論文の形にし、目下投稿中である。脇も関連した研究を行い成果を公表した。
2.については佐藤がコンパクトアーベル群上のフーリエマルティプライヤー作用素のスペクトルを解明し、成果を公表した。
3.については田中が最適化問題についてのいくつかの成果を得て、公表した。
4.については成果が得られなかった。
今後の展望として、個々の符号の被覆半径のより強力な決定法の探求(現在の方法は組織的ではあるが計算機に過度に依存しているので不満がある)、ヤコビ多項式のなす環の構造の解明、連続情報の離散化(いわゆる量子化)の問題に研究を進めたい。
