Research Abstract

TCNE cycloaddition to (thiepin) iron tricarbonyl :
The reaction of (thiepin) iron tricarbonyl with TCNE gave regioselectively only 1,6 adduct in a quantitative yield. Any example of the direct formation of 1,6 adduct by the treatment of (Cyclic eta^4-triene) metal complex with TCNE is not known heretofore
The first detection of simple thiepin : 2-ethoxycarbonylthiepin
Treatment of diazo 2H-thiopyran 1 with p-allylpalladium chloride dimer at-60 ゚C gave ethyl benzoate in a quantitative yield. Ethoxycarbonylthiepin 2 could not be detected by NMR spectro-scopy at this temperature. However, thiepin 2 was formed on irradiation of 1 in an Ar matrix at 10K and characterized by IR spectroscopy. This is the simplest of all thiepin derivatives detected so far. The results of our MO calculations (ab initio 3-21G^* ; Frequencies and IR intensities) strongly support the formation of thepin 2. I am to announce this results at international conference (ISNA-8) held in Germany in this summer.
