Research Abstract |
This study makes clear the relationship between the administrative area and the facilities area. We studied areas familiar to us in this geographic region and we investigated the formative process in the creation of administrative distinctions based upon historical fact. The areas chosen specifically for the study are Kagosima, Miyazaki and Oita. As a result, in Kagosima the borderline in 1889 was decided on "Gou" (in the Satuma clan) in the Edo period and it has existed still now. Some parts of the Satuma clan had belonged to Miyazaki. But these parts might not necessarily be accord with the borderline in 1889. In Oita the borderline in 1889 was determined an administrative area in 1884. Now, the administrative area in 1995 is based upon the borderline in 1889. We classified the kinds of the facility service areas 8 types based upon the from of the administrative area. As a result, we made it clear that the facility service areas in three prefectures were greatly influenced by the administrative area and the formation processes ; what is more were influenced by an old administrative area. And a similar characteristic was exhibited in Kagosima and Miyazaki. However, the relationship between these functions was different in Oita.
