Research Abstract

(1) Proto-type system
Proto-type system for computer-aided development of azeotropic distilllation systems has been made on a personal computer.
(2) Database and quasi-database
An azeotropic database with 1,706 data on pure materials, 18,279 data on binary azotropes and 921 data on ternary azeotropes has been made and quasi-databases have been made for estimating lacked data on pure materials, binary azeotropes and ternary azeotropes.
(3) Examination of performance of the system
In order to examine the performance of the system, selection of the In order to examine the performance of the system, selection of the entrainers for azeotropic distilllation utilizing heterogeneous binary azeotropes has been carried out and the obtained entrainers have been compared with those of existing processes.
(4) Extention to heterogeneous ternary azeotropes
The system has been improved to be able to search for the entrainers for azeotropic distilllation processes utilizing heterogeneous ternary azeotropes.
