Research Abstract |
The target in this exploratory study is to clarify the development of the consumer skill and its effect for 3-5 years children on the basis of longitudual method. The personal interview method for investigation was carried out to 21 objects, 3 years old kindergarten-parents pairs living in Hakodate City, Hokkaido during 3 years since 1994. The research items are composed of (1) children's ability of the information processing, (2) money use skill, (3) recognition of money, (4) influence of family, peer, mass media, and (5) cognitive ability. Research results : 1.In general, children have got their consumer skill in their early age, which is influenced storongly by their family factors. 2.From the aspect of children's understanding degree to TV advertising, the ability of information processing don't develope in the kindergarten's ages. Their information sources come from products displayd in stores rather than TV. 3.The children's notion and skill concerning with spending and saving, those abilities develope according to their ages, are influenced by having opportunities to operate as independent consumers in the family. 4.Fifty percent of 3-4 years and eighty percent of 5 years children in the research hold concept of money, which is more influenced by family factors like as father's occupation than age.
