液晶における反強誘電相の発現機構に関する分子運動論的研究

Research Abstract

研究実施計画にしたがい下記の9点を明らかにするとともに,成果報告書をまとめ,公開シンポジウムを開催した.
1.H7(1995)年度購入したCD分光計により,SC_α^*相の螺旋構造が動的なものであることを明らかにし,SC_α^*はC-配向ベクトル場の転傾が熱的に励起されている相であると結論した.
2.温度や周波数を変えるとスイッチングが3安定からV字型に移り変わる系を見出し,V字スイッチングが界面誘起の無閾反強誘電性に起因することを明らかにした.
3.界面の影響が少ない自己保持膜を用いて福次相を系統的に研究し,山下のANNI+J_3モデルが妥当なことを明らかにして,その無秩序相が固有の無閾反強誘電性を示す可能性を示唆した.
4.重水素化試料を用いた偏光ラマン・赤外により,キラルアルキル鎖ばかりでなくキラル部-CH_3,-CF_3も骨格部分子長軸から約マジック角で突出していることを明らかにし,またキラルアルキル鎖の束縛回転を確認した.
5.^<13>CでラベルしたTFMHPOBC試料を用い,偏光赤外によりキラル部および骨格部カルボニル基の束縛回転をそれぞれ独立に確認した.
6.重水素化試料を用いたNMRにより,キラルアルキル鎖の運動状態がアキラルアルキル鎖とは全く異なっており,SA相においてさえも平均的鎖軸まわりに2軸性であること明らかにした.
7.^<13>C NMRによりキラルアルキル鎖の歳差運動が集団的ではないかと考えられるに至り,詳細は今後の課題である.
8.キラルアルキル鎖を連結したダイマーを使い,SC_A^*相発現に双極子-双極子間の電気的相互作用が重要であることを示した.
9.5T超電導マグネットにより導入し配向セルの作製を容易にするとともに,配向機構の解明,配向を乱す欠陥構造について研究した.
