Research Abstract |
In the strongly correlated electron systems(SCES), the localized electron such as f electron hybridizes with the conduction electron and renormalizes into the itinerant electronic state with heavy cyctrotron mass. In order to make clear the origin of SCES state, the Research Project team on "Physcal Properties of Strongly Correlated Electron Systems" was constructed from three groups : Fujii's materiars, Onukis solid state physics and Shiba's theoretical research groups for fouryears and has carried out research intensively on three main research projects : metamagnetic phase transition, anisotropic superconductivity and Kondo semiconductor in the heavy electron systems. In the last fiscal year, the summary project team has collected the research results and discussed the development in the heavy electron physics area. The research results from this project team was presented at intrnational conference of SCES'97 in Cairns. The meeting for younger solid state investigators was held at S

higa Kougen in 1995 and at Knyasan in 1997. The general meeting was held in Tokyo on January and discussed by all project members. The summuary of research results has published in thebooklet. The nature of the metamagnetic phase transition was clarified by the change of f electron from itinerant to localized charactors near the transition field experimentally from Onuki's de hans-van Alphen effect and Sakakibara's magnetization at very low temperatures. A character of the Cooper pair function of the non-BCS, anisotropic supercondictivity was clarified dynamically by such as the NMR studies. A electronic state of the Kondo Semiconductor. CeNiSn, was explained by taking into account the Niyake's k-dependent mixing matrix element. In addition to the biginning of the project themes, some new materials were discoverd and many interesting results have been progressed for non Fermi liquid effect. quadrupole order state. metamagnetism and so on. The final research nresults will be published in 1998. Less
