Research Abstract

平成6年度、(1)新物質探索グループは、新しい側面をもつ重い電子系超伝導の発見を第一目標とし、3d強相関電子系の中に近藤半導体を見出す事やこれまでにない新しい基底状態を示す重い電子系物質を目指して、各大学で独自な発想のもとに物質探索を進めてきた。現在、環境整備が整い本格的な物質探索が始まった段階であり、特筆すべき新物質の発見には至っていないが、広島大藤井らによって新しい超伝導体ThNi_2B_2C(T_C=7K)や東大物性研の石川らによって新しい非磁性ヘビーフェルミオン化合物CeFeGe,,Ce_3Pd_<20>Si_6などが発見されている。一方(2)結晶育成グループは、典型物質として、メタ磁性転移化合物CeRu_2Si_2,UPt_3、異方的非BCS超伝導体UPt_3,UPd_2Al_3および近藤半導体CeNiSn,CeRhSbを取り上げ、純良単結晶を育成してきた。CeRu_2Si_2,UPt_3およびUPd_2Al_3については、大阪大大貫、富山県立大前沢、東北大小松原らによって、それぞれ、単結晶の育成および固相電解法による純良化が試みられた。その結果、CeRu_2Si_2は主要フェルミ-面からのド・ハ-ス・ファン・アルフェン効果(dHvA効果)が広い角度、磁場範囲で観測されるようになり、有効質量の磁場依存が次第に明らかになってきた。UPt_3は残留抵抗比が500を越える試料が得られるようになってきた。その結果、これまで観測できなっかったc軸方向のdHvA効果(シグマ、タウ-ブランチ)が観測されるまでになった。又、UPd_2Al_3については、主要フェルミ-面のdHvA効果が観測される程度に純良化が進んでいる。しかし、重い電子系を特徴づけるド・ハ-ス・ブランチを観測するには至っていない。更なる純良化が必要である。近藤半導体CeNiSn,CeRhSbについても、結晶の純良化が進むにつれて、電気抵抗の半導体的増加は弱くなるといった奇妙な結果が得られ、伝導現象は益々複雑化する様相を示している。本質的な振る舞いをみるには、今後さらに純良化への努力が必要である。
