Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to find out the actual condition of immatured permanent teeth, care of immatured permanent teeth and establishment of oral health care. This study was accomplished by the Departments of Pediatric Dentistry of all the dental schools in Japan. This study consists a field research and a Joint research. The field research, an investigation into the actual condition of immature permanent teeth, was performed by 29 dental schools from April 1,1995 to August, 31,1995.4,080 children (2,015 boys and 2,065 girls) ragging from 5 to 16 years of age were examined and divided into 12 groups. Condition of eruption, tooth anomaly, caries prevalence, restoration, plague, gingival condition, and the pattern of occlusion were surveyed. The data were classified according to age and condition of eruption. The joint research was devided under 7 headings and accomplished by one or several dental schools. In immatured permanent teeth, caries prevalence, condition of tooth structure, development of dentition and occlusion, anomaly, eruption and dietary habit, condition of gingiva and pulp, and prevention were surveyed. The results of this study suggest a direction for care of immatured permanent teeth and establishment of oral health care.
