Research Abstract |
This research aims for Japanese graduate school to get the position as the center of excellence and contribute to the academic study in the international society and to meet the needs of high professionals. This investigation is performed for all teachers of the national university to get information for establishing a new graduate school system . The collection rates of this research were 57%. The content of the investigation are on the roles, present conditions, problems and a future direction of the graduate school. As a result, we find that national university graduate school has largely contributed to the training of man of ability and the development of the academic study but that there is a little contribution to the community. So, it is expected that national university graduate school should contribute to the needs of community more in future. And also we find that excellent students don't go to the graduate school for the financial reason. This is a crisis for the graduate school from the viewpoint of training of man of ability. So, we must hasten the examination of the financial help system to the young researchers. Also interchange among faculties of other educational facilities should be need. To reform the national graduate school, it is pointed out that schooling and a practice should be enriched in the master's course and in the doctor's program, a research meeting and the fulfilllment of the workshop are necessary. Teachers in science study fields asserted that the specific fields should be enriched, and other teachers in social study fields pointed out that the necessity to complete all fields equally. This research suggests various schemes are necessaryin the reform of the graduate school.
