| Research Abstract |
This year we devoted ourselves to interpreting and comprehending documents largely belonging to the Hojo and Takahashi families' papers, which we collected in the first and second years of this study. At the same time, we have conducted exchange research with the Kanchazan Memorial Museum since last year. In the process of our research, we discovered important documents related to the works of Hojo Katei and confirmed their significance with both the Hojo and Takahashi families. The documents of both the Hojo and Takahashi families contain large volume of material and are private collections, therefore, we could not disclose all the documents we received, but we were able to include a portion of them in a report disclosing our findings.
Although we have held research sessions studying notes related to the contents of Hojo Katei, we need to continue our research project after the given period because of the large volume of the documents. So far we have confirmed that Ohgai misunderstood and made many misinterpretations in his examination of the details of Hojo Katei and in his historical study of the period. Furthermore, we clarified to a substantial degree place names, people's names and Chinese verses of the Fukuyama clan, which previous research misinterpreted and left unidentified. Due to the large volume of the documents, and in order to successfully complete our research, we need to continue this project.
In addition to the above, we investigated previous research papers and historically categorized the fundamental studies on Hojo Katei, which to date have hardly been explored. Consequently, we decided how we will continue our research on our own and how can establish a foundation for our research.
