Research Abstract

Some specially designed mouse emulators which realized accessing Information Network for children with physical impairments were trial manufactured. These emulators corresponded with Serialkeys which follows the connection and communication protocol outlined in the General Input Device Emulating Interface (GIDEI) Proposal by the Trace Research and Development Center in USA.In Japan, SerialKeys was supported on Windows95 in Dec.1995. Before then, physically handicapped must use some different input device on each kind of computers. Now these emulators realized for them to use the same input device on different kind of computers. These emulators was constructed on small one board computer using a BASIC Stamp2. As a result, a supporter could develop easy an individually control programs of these emulators on BASIC language.
At the case of severally handicapped with involuntary motor impairments, they could not adjust the mouse cursor pointing to clickpoints on display due to their switch on/off handling, even if they used these type of mouse emulators. So they were very difficult to use Information Network which was adopted GUI as like as WWW on Internet. It seemed that we must to develop the other type of mouse emulator for them. For example, the mouse cursor is moved to each clickpoints in order to switch on/off handling. Also position and number of clickpoints must be set similarly at every web pages on Internet.
