Research Abstract |
The giant magnetoresistance effect has been investigated for amorphous-CoFeB/Cu/Co sandwiches with and without exchange-bias layrs. A maximum magnetoresistance ratio of 5.4% was obtained in the CoFeB/Cu/Co sandwith at room temperature, where most of the MR change occurred within a magnetic field change of 280A/m. The sandwith with NiO exchange-bias layr showed spin valve behavior with a MR ration of 2.5%. Magnetic and magneto-optical (MO) properities are investigated for Nd (Tb, Dy) FeCo multilayrs (MLs) prepared by rf magnetron sputtering method. Perpendiculary magnetized films with good square hysteresis loops reasonably large Kerr rotation rheta_k at shorter wavelength, are obtained by adjusting the composition as well as the bilayr period. In the work the maximum perpendicular anisotropy Ku of 50*10^4J/m^3 and the maximum rheta_k of 0.33deg.are obtained for Nd_<65>Tb_<35>Fe_<81>Co_<11> and Nd_<67>Dy_<33>/Fe_<81>Co_<11> MLs with the bilayr period of 1nm and the bilayr thickness ratio of 1.
