Research Abstract

In this study, the formation process of granule and treatment characteristics were discussed in an Upflow Anaerobic Hybrid Blanket (UAHB) reactor treating a fermentation process wastewater consisting of high sulfide and ammonia. The results indicated that the granules could be developed in the process for treating sulfide- and ammonia-rich wastewater, and inhibition caused by sulfide was not occurred. Therefore, the UAHB process was shown a better stability for treating the refractory wastewater. The experimental results indicated that 2-stage contact aeration process was suitable process as advanced wastewater treatment of treaed wastewater from UAHB.Therefore, it was thought that the combination process of UAHB and 2-stage contact aeration was optimum process of treating treating a fermentation process wastewater consisting of high sulfide and ammonia.
The start-up of UASB reactor and analyzes of bacterial structures were discussed by using high concentration soy wastewater from fish … More food process. When start-up was finished, 60-70% TOC removal efficiency, and 30-50% lipid removal efficiency were obtained under the TOC loading rate of 10-12kg-TOC/m^3/day. Almost all of the granules in the upper part of sludge bed consisted of Methanothrix-like bacteria while the granules in the lower part presented multi-layr bacterial structures. Consequently, The basic and practical process for TOD and lipid removal from soy wastewater from fish food process was thought to be established.
Photographic wastewater bears high level of various organic and inorganic chemicals which can not be deducted to the extent permitted for disposal only with a biological or a chemical method. We proposed a three-stage treatment system ; the wastewater was treated biologically at first, then chemically to reform the remaining refractory chemicals biodegradable, and biologically again. In this study, ozone was applied to the chemical stage and the removal efficiency of the system was discussed.
