| Research Abstract |
(1) The cytolethal distending toxin gene was found to occur in Shigella dysenteriae and S,sonnei but, not in Vibrio cholerae and other vibrio species
(2) Comparison on between the cdt genes of S.dysenterial and E.coli showed that both were almost identical with the exception of variations in 11 base pairs at the nucleotide level and 2 residues at the amino acid level.
(3) The cdt genes cloned from S. dysenteriae was subcloned into E.coli and diarrheagenicity of partially punted CDT was investigated by suckling mouse model
(4) Distribution of genes encoding cholera toxin, zonula occludens toxin, and Eltor hemolsin in 1154 strains of Vibrio cholerae was investigated.
(5) A variant of VT1, VT1v1, was punified and some properties of the punified VT1v1 were characterized. Homogeneity of VT1 and VT1v1 was about 83% in amino acid sequence and Biological activity of VT1v1 was about 1/40 〜 1/100 of that of VT1.
