Research Abstract |
We evaluated the state of periodontal tissue by free vibration using an impulse hammer and obtained the folloeing results. 1. In an extracted teeth implantation model that showed viscous resistance similar to that of the periodontal membrane, both single-rooted teeth and multi-rooted teeth showed a certain vibration pattarn even when the vibration force was not accurately constant. 2. In model of periodontal disease produced using exracted teeth, vibration responses were decreased. 3. In the human healthy complete teeth, each tooth showed nearly the same responses irrespective of the strength of vibration. In the teeth partially of the strength of vibration respnses were decreased. These results suggest the applicabillity of this method to the diagnosis of periodontal disease.
