Research Abstract

This resrch was carried out by joint project between universities and industries. Basic results obtained from this research can summarized as below.
1.A high damping device referred as Mechatro Damper which consists of a thrust rotational unit together with an electric generator was proposed. Through shaking test done to the model device, it was proved that the damper can produce high damping capacity even for the small size nodel ; for example, the damper having 500mm-length and 100mm-diameter produced damping force of 5,000 N at maximum.
2.3 modes of vibration control methods were realized ; pessive, active and semiactive ones. Passive isolation system was achieved by introducing RLC circuit among terminals of DC servo motor. High damping effect was observed by shaking test and computer analysis under both cases of the resonant and nonresonant conditions.
3.In order to produce active vibration control mode, a new idea of regenerating electric power from the rotating motion of the damper was proposed. A linear dynamic actuator controlled by a relay control algorithm could produce damping force during the high speed rotation.
4.For the further development into the application of the proposed damper, numerical investigation was done. As a typical large comlex structure, combined thermal boiler and support structure was taken into consideration. Seismic response analysis was carried out to examine the applicability of the damping device.
