Research Abstract |
1. The relative angles of a handpiece to an arch are successively measured by attaching the three dimensional position sensors to an arch and a handpiece. 2. Calibrations of the angle measuring system reveals that metals used for prosthodontics and the handpiece do not affect the accuracy of the data. 3. Calibrations over the whole range of the clinically possible areas of usage of handpieces, the maximum error in angle measurement is less than 0.72, which is well below the allowable error. 4. The HMD display device is developed which display the amount of rotations to realize the correct angles of the handpiece to the arch. 5. Parallel preparation experiments are carried out with several dentists. The accuracy of the preparation is considerably increased in every cases. 6. Thus it was successively demonstrate that the usefulness of the system.
