Research Abstract |
In this study, the authors have developed the method of information retrieval and the database system for fine arts. As sensitive impression and location data of fine arts are very fuzzy, we have reported several important formulations about the data structure and information retrieval models based on the fuzzy set theory for multimedia database system. The fuzzy models of the method of information retrieval are implemented in the fine arts database system. The main features of this study as follows : 1. Based on member ship function, we have defined the fuzzy attribute values such as retrieval conditions and the stored data ; 2. We discuss quantitative verification of synonymous relations among sensitive words in the thesaurus ; 3. It is possible to retrieve the stored data on sensitive impression words and location data ; 4. User can input the words as the retrieval condition, and they can estimate the grades such as "low", "medium" and "high" ; 5. We have developed the fuzzy synonymous thesaurus of sensitive words to retrieve the fine arts data base. Finally, we discuss usability and effectiveness of information retrieval formulation for fine arts data base.
