| Research Abstract |
この研究は運動の動詞の発達に関して、これまで文法書等に記述のなかた新事実の発見も含め、詳細な調査を行って論文・著書の形で発表することを主眼とするものであるが、今年度はその基礎的調査と資料収集に時間の大部分を費した。9月にはエヂンバラで口頭発表し(於:国際歴史英語学会第8回大会)、運動の動詞の発達過程で現われる3つの特徴について報告した。その成果は学会のProceedingsにすでに掲載が決定している。またポーランドのJacek Fisiak教授から依頼されていた論文集には、'begin to+Infinitive'構文の発達に関する論文を送った。これを拡大したテーマで、11月の日本英語学会のワークショップでも簡単なペーパーを読んだ。
著書に関しては骨格ができ上がり、あとは資料を整理しつけ加える作業が中心となるが、diachronicな発達にかかわるため、これには十分時間をかけ、読むに足る内容にしたいと考える。つけ加えるに、1995年7月、Leeds(イギリス)のシンポジウム(於:国際中世文学語学会)に招かれているが、そこでは新たな発見を報告する用意がある。
