Research Abstract |
Following single crystals were grown ; 1.High quality single crystals of USb were obtained by using highly purified uranium metal, precise control of stoichiometry and annealing etc. 2.Single crystal of UAs was grown by Bridgman technique. 3.High quality single crystal of ThSb which is reference material of USb was grown using highly purified Th metal. 4.Single crystals of uranium monocharcogenides from US to UTe were grown by Bridgman technique. Using these single crystalsfollowing new results were obtained ; 1.Characteristic physical properties of USb compared to UAs and UP are considered to be due to its semimetallic character. Now by magnetic and acoustic de Haas effect two kind of ellipsoidal Femisurface and spherical Fermi surface are observed. 2.USb shows magnetic phase transition by magnetic field of about 40T. 3.Magnetic phase transition of USb under high pressure was observed by electric resistivity and neutron scattering measurement. 4.UAs shows sample dependent transport property. 5.The r.r.r.of ThSb is rather improved and its de Haas effect experiment is now in progress. X-ray magnetic scattering and magnetic Compton scattering experiments were performed for UTe, and contrary our expectation its 5f orbital is rather broad. Same experiments for US and USe are now in progress.
