Research Abstract |
Targets for this research topic are ; a.What kind of features are needed/crucial for the Virtual Work Station (VWS,hereinafter), b. How to realize high density job processing, e.g.distributed collaborative processing, or where is the problem for realizing tat processing with VWSs, currently using super computer, main frame machine, graphics processing WS,dedicated application server, e.g.FORTRAN cross compiler WSs, NASTRAN preprocessing WSs, e-mail server WS,and newly introduced highly parallel processor, etc. First thing we did for the project was disigning the user registration system called newuser which later was soled as the product of super computer bender at our center and tested with our system since October 1994 and it was very successful. Then we realized high density job processing system with ; 1) X-terminal controller (machine nichname is x-controlle1.cc.u-tokyo.ac.jp) : WS for controlling X-terminals at the computer center, University of Tokyo (CCUT,herein after) 2) NASTRAN pre-post processor (machin nickname is nastran-pre.cc.u-tokyo.ac.jp) : WS for application server of structure analysis spplication, NASTRAN,pre-post application at CCUT. 3) alfa-flow front end processor (machine nickname is alfaflow.cc.u -tokyo.ac.jp) : WS for application server of fluid dynamics analysis application, alfa flow, front end application at CCUT. 4) Input output control processor (machine nickname is io-controller.cc.u-tokyo.ac.jp) : Input and output service WS which provides the facility of data input from magnetic tape of 8mm, DAT and QIC,data output to laser beam printers including B/W and color.
