Research Abstract

Two sets of doubled haploid populations, Steptoe/Morex and Harrington/TR306 and their marker information offered from the North American Barley Genom Mapping Project were analyzed for various agronomic characters such as stem length, ear length, heading date, 1,000-kernel weight, salt tolerance at germination, salt tolerance at seedling stage, deep-seeding tolerance, flooding tolerance of seed, seed dormancy, pawdery mildew resistance, net blotch resistance, ABA response at germination, callus growth ability, and regenerating ability.
For all of the traits significant QTLs were detected and mapped on each chlomosome.
QTLs for ABA response at germination, salt tolerance at germination, seed dormancy, flooding tolerance of seed, and deep-seeding tolerance showed close relation, indicatind a common mechanism of seed germination.
