Research Abstract

Ethrel applied flower buds had a lower growth rate than the controls, as indicated by bud length, width and dry weight.Applide flower buds also had smaller styles, shorter filaments and smaller ovaries than the controls. At full bloom the style lengths of the ethrel-applied and control flower buds were about 6.42 and 9.26mm, while filament langths were about 4.00 and 5.06mm, respectively. The style length, ovary weight and filament lengths of applied flower buds were 80.0%, 83.2% and 82.9% of that of the control. The changes in 4 kinds of endogenous plant hormones levels (GAs, cytokinin and ABA) , carbohydrates contents (sugar and starch) and nitrogenous compounds contents (amino acid and protein) during the dormant period in one year old shoot were not related to ethephone application. The fall ethephon application was a greater bloom delay effect in 'Inazumi' than 'Shirokaga'.
The activity of AC-94,377 to promote parthenocarpic fruit growth enhanced with the auxin application by inhibiting fruit abscission. Among kinds of tested auxin, 10ppm of 2,4-DP,20ppm of 2,4-D and 50ppm of NAA,IPA and MCPB showed higher efficiency on increase percent fruit set when compared with natural pollination.
By pre-harvest method to control fruit ripening, 0.1mM of MGBG and 0.1mM of AOA applied to fruit at 20 to 30 days before normal harvest date have been shown to delay fruit ripening on tree. 0.1mM,1mM or 10mM of MGBG and 50ppm, 100ppm or 200ppm of AVG applied by post-harvest methode were effevtive to prolong the storage life of Japanese apricot fruit.
