| Research Abstract |
Uchiyama analyzed the types of the agricultural land use and the types of agricultural income by 49 statistical units in the Kanto Region. The Weaver's method modified by Doi is employed in this study. The Agricultural Census and Statistics of Agricultural Income Produced in 1990 are the main sources of imformation.
Then, uchiyama studied the land use change and fruits growing in Obuse, Nagano Prefecture. He made a detailed land use map of the largest agricultural settlement in Obuse. The results are published in the bulletin of the Japan Cartographers Association.
Masai studied the urbanization of Tokyo since 1457, as the example of the largest city. He classified the processes of Tokyo's urbanization into five stages. Furthermore, he analyzed the Urban Development of Kanto during the course of modernization.
Suzuki studied the land use pattern of shiozawa settlement in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture. In this settlement, high altitude agriculture is practiced. Recently, tourist industry is flourishing here. He analyzed relation with agriculture and tourist industry by using land use maps and statistical data.
