Research Abstract |
Cognitive counseling is a kind of practical research in which a cognitive phychologist makes individualized instruction for a learner in cognitive maladaptation. We founded "cognitive counseling room" in Tokyo Institute Technology in 1989, and made tutorials for pupils. In these two years, that is the period of this research project, we moved the counseling room to the University of Tokyo, and continued to made cognitive counseling. The cases are reported in conference, and the members including school teachers discussed the methodology and the implications of cases. In addicion, a few seminars in cognitive counseling were held in the University of Tokyo and Ochanomizu University for students and many cases were reported and examined. On the other hand, academic investigations were made related to the topics that frequently appeared in cognitive counseling, for example, motivation for learning, learning strategy, and so on. Some computer software systems were developed for learning kanji, English words, and mathematical concepts, and examined the effects.
