| Research Abstract |
本年度は、熱CVD法によるBCN化合物合成装置の組立、そして立ち上げを行った。その結果、再現性良くBC_2NおよびBC_3の成膜を行うことが出来るようになった。
これらの物質の表面原子配列を解析するため、STM測定を行ったが、原子レベルで平滑な膜は得られなかったため、B、C、Nの表面配列に関する情報は得られなかった。しかし、STSプロットからはBC_2Nが半導体的な振る舞いを示すことが分かり、バンドギャップは約1eVであることがわかった。この結果は先行の物性理論的な研究を裏付ける重要な結果である。今後は、より遅い成長速度で成膜を行い、平滑な膜を得た上で再度STM観察を行う予定である。
また、BC_2Nを出発試料とした超高圧実験もスタートし、15GPa程度の高圧で試料に大電流を流し、BC_2Nを瞬間的に融解し高圧相への相転移を確認した。しかし、この実験では炭酸電極からのコンタミネーションが無視できないため、厳密な組成の制御が次年度以降の課題として残された。今後は、この技術的な問題を解決した上で、新規BCN系高圧相の探索を行う。
