Research Abstract |
In 1995, three Japanese researchers surveyed in Spain including Canary Islands and Morroco with cooperation of each country. In 1996, four Japanese researchers surveyed in Egypt and Tunisia as scheduled in the proposal. In 1997 all Japanese member visited ten countries serrouding Europian Alps. Party of Furuta, Tominaga and Morikawa field-researched mainly in Chez, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland. They received some conveniences from some professors or researchers in all countries. They collected many spekes and/or seeds of cultivated types of wheat, barley, rye, oat, and their weeds and also green leaves and stems of plants for dry herbalium samples as well as informations in their field and agricultural systems. In addition to them, We got some informations of food processing of these cereals and other utilities. Especially, we collected old type of common wheat, spelta, wheat in southern Germany, Austria and cultivated Einkorn wheat near Chamonix, France. Another parry, Ohta and Mori also surveyedzed mainly in southern Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. They were also assisted by some researchers for their research ineach country and collected about 500 samples. Ohota visited Bari, Italy to get new information.
