Research Abstract	今年度は,研究代表者の五條堀孝と各研究分担者が,以下の国々を訪問して調査研究を行った。 (1)五條堀孝,舘野義男,西川建,菅原秀明が5月に米国のベセスダにあるNCBIで開催されたDDBJ/BMBL/GenBank国際DNAデータベースの諮問委員会に出席した。それにさきだち,舘野義男,菅原秀明,小林薫,宮崎智が同じくNCBIで開催された国際DNAデータベースのデータバンク実務者会議に出席した。 (2)五條堀孝が7月に,斎藤成也が8月に,米国のシアトル,サンフランシスコ,ヒユ-ストンの研究機関を訪問し,生命情報データベースの利用について研究調査を行った。 (3)五條堀孝が3月にフランスのパリにある研究機関を訪問し,DNAデータベースの利用について研究調査を行った。 (4)菅原秀明が4月と2月に,宮崎智が2月にオーストラリアのシドニーにある研究機関を訪問し,生命情報データベースの利用と構築・運営に関する実務調査を行った。 (5)宮崎智が8月にギリシャのアテネにある研究機関を,舘野義男が12月と2月に英国のケンブリッジ近郊にあるEBIを,今西規が3月に米国のNCBIをそれぞれ訪れ,DNAデータベースの構築・運営に関する実務調査を行った。以上の研究調査から得られた情報は,それぞれDDBJの日常業務である,塩基配列データベースを中心とする様々な生命情報データベースの構築と運営を改善発展するために用いられた。
