Research Abstract |
This international scientific research program aims to research on Japanese early books located in Federal Republic Germany.We register bibliographical records and collect valuable books which flowed out from Japan by microfilm.We made following field researchs and attained our great objects. 1.Report of Researchs (1) The Museum of the City of Frankfurt We researched old coppy books and illustrated books of the Holetch collection.And we discovered unknown books, GENJIMONOGATARI and NIJYUICHIDAISYU,which are not registered in Kraft's biliographical catalogs. (2)The library of the City of Munich There are books stored in two rooms of printed books and manuscripts."MABUCHI-KOKINSHO" which is an unknown valuable book concerning to "AKINARI UEDA" is there.Otherwise, "WAMYO-RUIJYUSHO" "KAGAKUSYU" "GENJI-MONOGATARI""GENJI-KOKAGAMI" "YUCHUSHO" and "YORIMASA-SHU" are valuable.Prof.Mai, proffessor of the University of Munich, told us informations of Japanese old books in Germany.We also promised Ms.E

va s.Kraft to collaborate publishing the last catalogs. (3) Berlin East-Asia Museum We researched "YOKIHI" "FUJIKAWA-HYAKUSHU" and "AOINOUE". (4) The University of Bon Prof.Panzhar showed th collection of illustrated maps which were made by MORONOBU HISHIKAWA.It hardly exists in Japan such a big collection. (5) Cologne East-Asia Museum The museum has the China, Korea and Japan depatments.We researched printed books there.Then we visited the Japanese Cultural Center, and met the director of the center, Yoichi Shimizu.He told us informations concerning to Jaapanese old books in Germany.There German scholars of Japanese literature need the library of the center very much.Its officer is who was at "Toyo-Bunlo" and knows Japanese old books very well. 2.Kraft's bibliographical catalog Ms.Eva s.Kraft, ex-officer of the National Library of the Berlin, published five bibliogrophical catalogs of Japanese old books that existed in West Germany by 1980's.The catalog has high quality as a bibliographical catalog, but it does not contain books in East Germany and Frankfurt.We will collaborate with her to publish the catalog as the 6th volume, after resarch of those books.
