Research Abstract |
Magnetism in heavy fermions has been studied in the temperature range between 20mK and 300K,collaborating with the groups in the Netherlands, France and the united states. Many different types of experiments have been carried out with collaboration, which are specific heat, resistivity, thermal expansion, susceptibility, magnetization, neutron diffraction and muSR. The research has been performed on next topics ; (1) The relation between crystalline field splitting scheme of 5f-electrons of uranium atom and the resultant magnetism. (2) The study of spin density wave (SDW). (a) SDW in heavy fermion in Ce (Ru_<1-x>Rh_x)_2Si_2 (0.05<x<0.3) and nesting of the 4d and 4f bands. (b) SDW accompanied by anisotropic gap opening in the Fermi surfaces and coexistence of heavy fermion. (c) Magnetovolume effect : INVAR and Anti-INVAR effects. (d) The study by muSR on magnetic ordering and the appearance of magnetic moment by the ordering. (3) Magnetic quantum phase transition. (4) Magnetic phase transition coupled with quadrupolar ordering.
