Research Abstract	1知識メディアアーキテクチャ:多様な知識を再利用、再編可能な形式で公刊する統合情報メディア技術として、Intelligent Padを基盤に多様な知識表現用部品パッドを開発した。3次元/4次元への拡張として実時間レンダリング可能なIntelligent Boxを開発し、アニメーションのみならず、インタラクティブなインフォメーション・ビジュアライゼーションとサイエンティフィック・ビジュアライゼーションヘの応用基盤を開発した。 (b)国際流通基盤システム:知識の流通・交換を可能にする国際流通基盤システムを、パッドやボックスをページに埋め込んで出版可能なウェブブラウザの開発と、これをドラッグ・アンド・ドロップで行えるマーケットプレイス・パッドの開発により実現した。再編集・再流通を許しつつ使用料を正しく課金・決算できる課金・ライセンス機構を提案した。 2実証システムと検索サービス:流通基盤システムを世界に公開し、文化の伝播と再編を促進し、進化を加速する可能性に関する実証研究を計画していたが、システムの公開は行ったものの、流通基盤の利用は数十サイトに留まっており、本格的実証実験には至っていない。膨大な流通オブジェクトの中から所望の部品や合成オブジェクトを見つけ出す検索サービスに関しては部品合成構造を反映した重ね合わせ符号を用いるシステムを開発した。多様な知識に固有の検索処理をパッドとして追加合成できる検索システムの基盤も開発した。画像検索に関してはフラクタル次元を用いた手法と、形状という大域的特徴を局所的特徴で検索する手法を開発した。 3類型抽出:膨大な流通メディア・オブジェクトから知識編集構造の類型を見つけだし、これを新知識の創造に活かす類型抽出に関しての理論的基礎を確立した。 4文書画像検索:文書画像の文字列検索に関しては日本語、中文、ハングル、ドイツ花文字等の多様な言語に対応できる検索システムを開発した。
