Research Abstract |
This scientific research for priority area "Ultimate integration of Intelligence on Silicon Electronic Systems" was aiming at the realization of intelligent electronic systems which are good at flexible information processing like "flexible interpretation," "overall judgement," and "intuitive solving." Following five research project parties were organized. 1. Ultra-Parallel and Ultra-High-Speed Architecture for Ultimate Integration 2. Ultimate Materials and Processes for Integrated Intelligent System 3. Instantaneous 2-D Data Processing System 4. Bio-Inspired Processing of Multi-Dimensional Information 5. Momentary Information Processing System Steering party was organized to enhance the collaboration between these project parties and direct research projects from general viewpoint. Good results have been obtained as follows. In this research project, researchers belonging to various research fields were combined. At the beginning of the project, communications between them were difficult. Th

rough the general symposium held twice every year and individual technical meetings held five times every year using Space Collaboration System (SCS), however, barriers between them were eliminated. Collaborative researches over the different research fields were stared and lots of new concepts and ideas were bone. It is one of the most valuable results of this research project that the research organization of researchers from system, circuit, device, process and material research fields has been established, where they can carried out research and development with identical objective mind. Situated at the end of the term of this project, we held an international symposium. At the symposium, research results have been widely published through 6 oral presentations, 53 poster presentations, and 13 exhibitions (demonstration of developments). Including 9 invited presentations and panel discussion, active discussions between participants have been made and the direction toward the future has been obtained. Less
