Research Abstract	研究目的:高等植物における雌雄両性の分化・成熟過程と受粉・受精過程の2つに焦点を絞り、それらに関する遺伝子を解剖吟味し、植物の有性生殖機構の解明を目指している。研究成果の概要:特に注目すべき研究成果は以下の通りである。(1)RAPD法やYACを利用したアサ、メランドリウムの性染色体の解析、(3)ウリ類の雌雄性決定に関わる遺伝子の単離、(3)イネやシロイヌナズナの突然変異体を利用した花器官の形成機構の解明、(4)減数分裂特異的遺伝子の解析、(5)花粉アレルゲン遺伝子など花粉成熟に関わる遺伝子の解析、(6)ミトコンドリア遺伝子と細胞質雄性不捻性の機構解明、(7)アブラナ科自家不和合性に関するS座位およびS多重遺伝子のクローニング、およびFISHによるS遺伝子の同定、(8)S-RNase型自家不和合性に関与するS-RNaseのX線結晶解析、(9)サツマイモの自家不和合性に関与する新遺伝子の解析、(10)雄性配偶体に特異的に発現する遺伝子の解析、(11)イネの突然変異体を用いた初期胚発生の解析、(12)ニンジン培養細胞の不定胚を用いた初期胚発生の解析。これらの課題に関して、約190報の論文を発表し、また3件の特許を申請するなど、多くの成果を得ている。研究組織と研究班の連携状況:2回の総括班会議を開催し、研究の進展状況を評価・検討した。News and Viewsを10号まで発刊して情報の伝達に務める一方、A班とB班の合同研究会を2回、また、合同シンポジウム、学会の際のシンポジウム、ワークショップ、若手研究者の会を各1回開催して、相互の研究の活性化につとめている。これらの機会を利用した情報交換が活発で、20件を越える共同研究が行われており、その成果も多数発表されている。
