Research Abstract	日本海溝および伊豆小笠原海溝など巨大水深をもつ海溝系および孤立海盆における物質循環過程を明らかにすることが本研究の目的である。このような海溝域は7000mを超す水深と帯状V字谷の地形的特徴から物質の収束域として重要であり、孤立海盆と同様に通常の深海とは異なる海洋環境を形成しているものと思われる。しかし、海溝の系統的な海洋学的、地球化学的研究はこれまでほとんど行われていず、知識の空白部となっている。日本海溝および伊豆小笠原海溝から海水、堆積物、粒状物質などの多数の試料を採取し、これまでに分析、研究を進めてきた。また、比較のためにスル海、アンダマン海などの孤立海盆を含む、インド洋海域でも地球化学的研究を実施してきた。本年度は再度日本海溝、日本海、オホーツク海などで研究を展開し、最終報告を作製した。得られた成果は以下の通りである。 1) 伊豆・小笠原海溝と日本海溝における放射性核種および微量重金属の鉛直分布の測定結果をとりまとめ、学術誌(Oceanologica Acta)に論文を公表した。 2) 日本海溝セジメント・トラップ実験の試料を用いて希土類元素の分別溶解実験を行い、粒子のスキャベンジングについて考察した。その結果を学術誌(Earth Planet Sci.Lett.)に公表した。 3) ICP質量分析による希土類元素、およびInの分析を継続して行った。その結果、In濃度が北太平洋、北大西洋および地中海で大きく異なることを見いだし、論文をGeochim.t Cosmochim.Actaに公表した。 4) 海水中のNd同位体比の測定を進め、その鉛直分布と海水循環についての考察を進めた。これらの結果は、世界的にも例のない新鮮なデータであり、今後総合的研究に発展することが望まれる。
