Research Abstract |
The assessment of outdoor wind environment is mainly dealing with the strong wind condition. In this research, we propose to include the thermal environment of relative lower wind condition, which we experience every day, and propose a new concept of "Moderate wind environment", which we investigate the structure. We are also aiming to develop a new system of wind environmental assessment, based on the advantages of using wind tunnel test and numerical simulation. Recently, we find some environmental problems occurred in the urban area, i. e., the rise of temperature caused by the decreasing of green area and large energy consumption, and also worse summer's outdoor climate caused by low velocity wind, occurred near the ground, due to the high density of building and other city structures. Based on these phenomena, the establishment of the outdoor thermal environment comfort assessment becomes a major issues in the urban environmental problem. The outdoor environment comfort is measured based on the influence of the extemal condition, coming from the flowfield, temperature field and the radiation field etc., and also from the thermal balance of human body. At the first stage of this research, we analyzed thermal environment of urban area by using coupled analysis of convective and radiative simulation, and then, developed a total assessment of the comfort of thermal and air environment. Then, we could clarify the importance of incorporating the effect of the sunlight to the wind environmental assessment and established a new method of wind environmental assessment, using coupled analysis of convective and radiative simulation.
